UST Operator Training Resources for Maine

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MDEP) requires all classes of operators to complete training and certification via TankSmart - The Oil Storage Tank Search & Operator Training Online Service. Below you’ll find information on training requirements, as well as quick links to the state’s training program.

Class A, Class B and Class C Operator Requirements for Maine

Class A, Class B and Class C operators are required to complete the TankSmart program before assuming duties. In addition, all operators must be retrained and recertified every two years.

Retraining and recertification may be required prior to the two-year renewal date if a facility is found out of compliance. However, if an owner elects to retrain and recertify Class A and Class B operators every year, retraining is not required if their facility is found out of compliance.
