Course Descriptions

Antea Group’s Class A/B and Class C underground storage tank (UST) operator training courses are approved by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). Upon completion, you’ll receive a certificate that can be downloaded and printed for your records.

All courses will expire and must be completed within 90 days of purchase. Please also note to use Google Chrome or Firefox as your browser. Internet Explorer and Edge can have issues with some aspects of your course.

Class A/B

Antea Group’s Iowa Class A/B UST operator training course is available on-demand, making it easy for you to complete anytime and anywhere. The course is self-paced, allowing you to stop and start as many times as you wish.

Depending on the user, the training typically takes up to five hours to complete. In addition, your course purchase comes with a comprehensive handbook that can be downloaded as an on-the-job reference tool.

Class C

Antea Group’s Iowa Class C UST training course is available on-demand, and can be taken anytime and anywhere for your convenience. The course is self-paced, allowing you to stop and start as many times as needed. The training takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. As with most states, Class C training is facility-specific, so certification is only valid after signature approval by the Class A or Class B operator following a review of the UST system for your facility.

UST Training Requirements for Iowa  

IDNR requires the training and certification all Class A and Class B operators, and Antea Group’s combined Class A/B course is approved for both classes. There are no retraining requirements unless the IDNR requires retraining due to compliance deficiencies that were identified during an inspection. If retraining is needed, it must occur within 30 days for Class A and B operators and within 15 days for Class C Operators, from the departmental notice.

IDNR requires all Class C operators to complete online or on-site training by a Class A or Class B certified operator. Online certification is available through Antea Group’s online course.

Reciprocity & Additional Resources

IDNR does accept operator training certification for individuals trained outside of Iowa, but it is verified and approved on a case-by-case basis. For verification and acceptance of out-of-state operator training, operators should contact the IDNR:
