UST Operator Training Resources for Michigan
At this time, the only Michigan state-approved UST training provider is the International Code Council (ICC). Below you’ll find details on specific training requirements for all classes of operators, as well as quick links to ICC training and more information.
Class A & Class B Operator Training Requirements for Michigan
The MDEQ requires Class A and Class B operators to take and pass the state’s UST operator exam. The exam is an “open book” test administered by the ICC and is subject to the restrictions of the ICC. The exam also must be taken at ICC testing sites, which are administered by the ICC’s computer-based testing vendor, Pearson VUE, throughout the state. Operators must renew their ICC certification every five years.
Class C Operator Training Requirements for Michigan
The MDEQ does not require Class C operators to take or pass a state-administered exam. Class C operators can be trained by the associated Class B operator.
