Course Descriptions

Antea Group’s Class A/B and Class C underground storage tank (UST) operator training and exam courses are approved by the Hawaii Department of Health, Solid and Hazardous Waste Branch. Upon completion, you’ll receive a certificate that can be downloaded and printed for your records.

All courses will expire and must be completed within 90 days of purchase. Please also note to use Google Chrome or Firefox as your browser. Internet Explorer and Edge can have issues with some aspects of your course.

Class A/B

Antea Group’s Hawaii Class A/B UST operator training course is available on-demand, making it easy for you to complete anytime and anywhere. The course is self-paced, allowing you to stop and start as many times as you wish.

Depending on the user, the training typically takes approximately five hours to complete. In addition, your course purchase comes with a comprehensive handbook that can be downloaded and used for the 75-question, open-book exam following the training, as well as an on-the-job reference material.

Class C

Antea Group’s Hawaii Class C UST training course is available on-demand and can be taken anytime and anywhere for your convenience. The course is self-paced, allowing you to stop and start as many times as needed. The training takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. As with most states, Class C training is facility-specific, so certification is only valid after signature approval by the Class A or Class B operator following a review of the UST system for your facility.

UST Training Requirements for Hawaii

Hawaii requires the training and certification of all Class A and Class B operators, and our combined Class A/B course satisfies the requirements for both classes. Class A and Class B operators must submit an “Initial UST Operator Designation Form,” and retraining is required every five years.

In addition, Class A and Class B certifications are required to be on-site to be reviewed during facility inspections or upon request. When a different or new operator is designated as a Class A and/or Class B operator, the operator designation record must be amended and submitted to the Hawaii Department of Health, Solid and Hazardous Waste Branch no later than 30 days.

Finally, Hawaii requires the training and certification of all Class C operators annually. Designations and certifications should be on-site at the facility so they can be reviewed during an inspection or upon request.

Reciprocity & Additional Resources

Hawaii does accept operator training certification for individuals trained outside of Hawaii. However, operators seeking reciprocity should contact the Hawaii Department of Health, Solid & Hazardous Waste Branch to have their out-of-state certification evaluated and approved:
